IBSA @ Prayer ~ Urgent Prayer for Former IBSA Music Director

.
Urgent prayer request for former IBSA music director Allen Mashbern

Allen Mashbern served Illinois Baptists for 23 years. Health issues forced him from active ministry due to kidney failure. Since leaving IBSA, He and his wife have faced numerous health issues. Currently, He is awaiting a kidney transplant at Barnes Hospital St Louis. Complications have delayed the surgery. And this past Monday night he fell in his yard and fractured his leg. The leg can be repaired but the greater concern is the healing. His diabetes causes major healing problems and he may loose his leg if it does not heal quickly. Dr's cannot do the kidney transplant until he is completely healed.

Allen’s wife, Jeannie, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had the breast removed and is now undergoing chemo therapy. Every week new medical problems strike one of them. Also Jeannie's mother is near death in a local nursing home. Prayer is urgently needed for these faithful servants. Please share this request in church services on Wednesday and Sunday.

UPDATE from Pastor Mike:

Yesterday Allen underwent a 2nd surgery to set the leg. His injury left the leg completely broken off above the ankle and protruding through the flesh. His ankle was only attached by flesh and some tissues. The leg has been reset but requires much more intensive surgery from a major hospital.

This afternoon he will be transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. The surgery will probably be early next week.

Pray that it can be done Monday or Tuesday even though it is Labor Day on Monday. If not they will have to redo what they did surgically yesterday. He will be in Chicago for about a week if all goes well. Then he will be placed in a nursing home or brought home with with home care medical professionals. This will require six weeks or more of intensive treatment.

He will need to lay on his back during that time with very limited mobility. Jeannie is required to be home to continue her chemo therapy.

I thank all of you on their behalf for praying. The biggest concern remains healing from surgical wounds due to his kidney failure and diabetes. If he cannot heal then there will be dire consequences. Ask the Lord to provide this healing.

Many blessings, Mike

PS (from Phil) - Please also pray for Pastor Mike and the congregation as the minister to Allen and Jeannie for sensitivity to their needs and leadership of Holy Spirit
